When is this yellow melon ready to pick?

Last year I bought a yummy yellow melon (It was from Central or South America) at Wally World. I planted the seeds from it this spring and now this melon looks ready to pick, but I'm not sure if it separates from it's stem like my cantaloupes do when ready to eat. Anybody have a clue? It looks ready, sounds ready, but I don't want to pick it if it's supposed to self detach from the stem.
