Does Everyone live in Igloos?

I live in Detroit and look across into Windsor. I have never been to Canada so I am not sure but a friend of mine said everyone lives in Igloos. I dont see igloos? Is this because I am to close to the boarder and the Greatness of America has rubbed off on this part. I know Canada is really big like Texas, so are the igloos housed in another part of Canada? Also how cold is the summer?
