How do you feel about people proudly displaying the Confederate flag?

regardless of what the origins of the flag are or what it is supposed to stand for, today it is almost always displayed by people who are racist, and is ociated with racism/prejudice, namely towards black people. i personally would never even want to be ociated with anyone who flies this flag, and i find it morally wrong because of what it symbolizes. that flag scares me. a lot. and if i was a black person surrounded by confederate supporters, i'd almost certainly be offended by it. in fact i am offended by it as a white person because it represents a hatred that is a threat to all of society, black or white. but they do have the right to fly it- that is the beauty of this country. and i can't ask them to take it down, because people could easily ask me to not fly a rainbow flag for gay pride. so they have the freedom to be proud of it. however, the moment they act out negatively on that pride in a way that hurts other people, that is always wrong.
