Minnesota hotels- Law enforced minimum check in age of 21?

actually i understand the surprisment because today i went to a few hotels to rent one for my bf and i and first i went to the one we always go to and he checked my id and said that a new law ped on february that you have to be 21+ to get a room. i was real upset and i responded with "what about last time?" you know this are really upsetting laws because we are being forced to stick to the "car" in "public" you know? i live in california so i believe this is a new law everywhere and hotels that accept 18+ probably have not recieved the news yet. i hope this helps :)
